Course Title - Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work - 6hr (EFAW)

Target Group- Employees working within a small office environment.

RQF Regulation & Accreditation - This qualification is regulated in the UK by ITC First. ITC are an Awarding organisation regulated by OfQual and SQA Accreditation. The qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

Prior Learning- None

Description - The qualification introduces emergency life support skills in the context of a work setting. The training delivery will allow plenty of opportunity for skills development, straightforward practice and application of appropriate procedures. This qualification satisfies the statutory HSE obligations of the employer for smaller and low risk workplaces.

Specific Content includes:

- Vital Signs – breathing, level of consciousness, temperature, colour.

- Incident Management – a systematic approach to managing first aid incidents.

- Airway Management – causes and treatment of unconscious collapse.

- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

- Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

- Breathing Problems – choking.

- Circulation Problems – controlling external bleeding and treatment for shock.

- Minor Injuries - small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters.

- Safe best practice - minimise the risk of infection.

- Record keeping – recording accidents, RIDDOR, First Aid kits, disposing safely of clinical waste.

- Awareness of current regulations.
